A Documentary Series, Podcast, and Social media campaign
Agency: Thesis
Role: Film Director, Creative director, Podcast Host, Voice Over Artist

THE VISION
Everyone has an origin story. Look at any expert, artist, or leader and it can be hard to imagine them ever being a newcomer. But if you follow their journey, you can start to understand how they shine so bright. You can appreciate the struggle, persistence, and strength. You might even be inspired.
I assembled a team of storytellers and artists to realize this vision. Black creatives come together to spotlight voices too often ignored in advertising, and the world. But not anymore.

THE WORK
SAGA is a DOCUMENTARY series, podcast, social media campaign, and website. The content centers around five Black employees at Thesis, a creative agency in Portland. Some are creatives. Others are executives. All have nuanced stories unpacked in dedicated episodes.

The work has a few levels. For the agency, which set ambitious DEI goals, these stories gave Black employees representation not achieved simply by hiring more diverse talent. For the employees, this was a chance to be heard. Many used the platform to open the door for others. For my community, SAGA infuses heroic energy with authentic storytelling to reveal the power of Black imagination.

THE OUTCOME
From the first trailer to the last episode, SAGA ran for three months. In that time the project generated over 200 hours of viewing time, drew a 18% jump in social followers for Thesis, and earned well over 10,000 engagements. The project made big strides on Instagram and LinkedIn, uncovered insights for Twitter, and introduced Thesis to Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

SAGA went on to be featured by Apple Podcasts under Creatives in Conversation within the Black History Month category.
